10 Simple Recommendations for Increased Happiness and Well-Being

We all have something that makes us happy. It could be our friends and family, taking care of our pets, or working out. Here are 10 simple ideas and recommendations on how to increase your daily sense of happiness and well-being.

1. Take some time for conversation. Talk to your friends and loved ones daily. Remember that face-to-face communication gives you a greater sense of happiness than communicating on social media on your computer.

2. Contact a friend you haven’t seen for a long time and propose a get-together. Seeing each other again and having a good conversation brings joy to everyone.

3. Be positive towards others, give compliments or praise others for their achievements. Praising others or doing good deeds will bring happiness to you too.

4. Every night, give yourself feedback about the positive things that happened to you during the day. Or name 5 good qualities that you possess. This will help you get to know yourself better, and you will find joy in complimenting yourself and boost your self-esteem.

5. Be kind to yourself and be honest with (but not tough on) yourself. Encourage yourself!

6. Learn or do something new that interests you! You do not need to go to school for this: independent learning and DIY projects are equally great for increasing your sense of happiness.

7. Keep physically active! Take walks, work out, or exercise. Choose an activity you enjoy.

8. Get a good belly laugh at least once a day!

9. Take care of someone or something. This could be a plant, a pet, a friend in need of help, etc.

10. Reduce the leisure time you spend in front of TV and computer (as well as smartphone) screens by at least half. This way you will also have more time for everything listed above.
