How do you start career planning?

Which school should I go to? What kind of work should I do? What are my strengths? What interests me? Have you ever thought that, in addition to your family and friends, it would be nice to discuss issues and plans related to personal life with someone who does not know you so well? Someone with whom you can share your thoughts and desires without any shame.

Maybe you have secret wishes that you do not want to tell your friends and family at first because you are not sure whether it is possible to realise these wishes and dreams. Or you might have reached a dead end with your plans and cannot decide what to study and where to work in the future.

Some people are able to handle it all themselves, but most need a good adviser, such as a career counsellor. The task of a career counsellor is to help identify your best traits and strengths, and establish how to best use them in your studies or later in your career. They help you find what suits you best. They can guide you on the right path even if you have already made a decision and feel that it is not right for you at all. Career counselling and meeting with a counsellor are free of charge.

A career counsellor:

  • is neutral;
  • helps identify your true strengths and interests;
  • provides various tests;
  • guides you to new opportunities;
  • helps set goals and achieve them.
