Testing is important to prevent unintentionally transmitting STIs to other people. Some diseases show no symptoms and people can pass them on to others without knowing it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The easiest way to get tested is at a youth counselling centre or a specialist doctor, such as a gynaecologist, andrologist or a dermatovenerologist. To prevent the spread of infections, STI tests (including a HIV test) are usually done on all people who have had sexual intercourse.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-2ff2c8d elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"2ff2c8d\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-3429759\" data-id=\"3429759\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e19ab80 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e19ab80\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><b>It is recommended to test for STIs if:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">you have had unprotected sex. For example, if you did not use a condom or a contraceptive film during sex, or if it broke;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">your partner has an STI;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">you notice symptoms (eg pain, blisters, discharge, spots) on your body and in the genital area;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">you are planning to have sex with your partner without a condom; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">you and your partner are planning to have a child. STIs can affect fertility or be transmitted to the child.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-97a64df elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"97a64df\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is no reason to be afraid of the test \u2013 they are not painful and do not leave wounds.
